The following rules apply by default to all official and unofficial CFP tournaments. Some specific tournaments and events may use different rules - please make sure to closely read the event's description for such changes. All rules are subject to change.
Universal rules
π₯ Cheating using third-party software, scripts, macros, etc. is strictly forbidden.
π₯ Playing on someone else's account or pretending to be someone else (impersonation) is not allowed.
π₯ Playing on smurf accounts in draft events is forbidden. Playing on alt and smurf accounts in normal events is permitted if they have at least 200 matches played or if the player is known to the community.
π¨ Toxic behaviour is not tolerated. We apply some leniency for banter and more βprovocativeβ tones as part of competition, but there are limits, and the players on the receiving end need to be fine with it. If you are told to stop, by the other player(s) or by the staff, you need to stop.
π¨ Submitting false reports is not allowed.
π¨ Breaking tournament format can be punishable. Some tournaments involve specific rules (e.g. players must select a specific combo), and players are asked to pay close attention to such rules. Any confusion should be brought to the attention of Tournament Hosts.
π¨ Leaving a tournament in the finals or semi-finals (or equivalent) is punishable, as it deprives other players from competing in late stages. Repeatedly registering and failing to show up may also lead to punishment.
Players have to replay a match if one of the players had a problem with joining the room due to bug/lag/connection issues and reported that immediately at the beginning of the match. There is no compensation for later bugs or lags, unless all parties agree to a rematch.
Lobbies should be hosted on European servers whenever possible (European host).
Whoever was best ranked in the previous round gets priority over the choice of skin. Tie-break rules in place for the previous round apply. Does not apply to finals if they are anonymous, nor to the first tournament match (coin toss if needed).
It is possible to join a tournament that has already started, as long as nobody has been eliminated yet (no-shows excluded). In that case, the player will be placed in the worst possible situation, e.g. in the room closest to elimination.
Rewards for the tournament go to the account that played the tournament.
The βFinalsβ password must not be shared to anyone and only affiliated members are allowed (Tour Host, Mods, Recorder). As for other tournament matches, anyone is allowed to spectate, however, if there are signs of toxicity, harassment, etc, from spectators, a moderator or Tour host / Tour helper should be contacted to deal with the situation. If there are unavailable mods to help out, the room host may kick the spectator causing the hassle.
Reports for alleged rule-breaking will be reviewed by Tournament Hosts, potentially with the help of several additional expert players not involved in the situation. Tournament hosts directly involved into the report should not be part of decision making if possible. Reporting false violations may result in penalties π¨.
In unprecedented or unplanned situations, the Tournament crew will discuss and aim to make the best possible decision. Extreme situations may require live adjustments to the current rules. The tournament rules will be updated as soon as possible to ensure the best experience for all players. Rules cannot cover every situation, that wording of the rules cannot be taken blindly or literally in order to push an unfair/illogical resolution, and that situations are assessed case by case.
The Tournament Crew reserves the right to have the last word in any conflict or misunderstanding that happens within the tournament. If a player does not accept the decision by e.g. refusing to play, unless the decision goes βtheirβ way, a warning will be issued by the organizers. Continuing to do so despite multiple warnings may result in the player/team being disqualified from further participation in the tournament and a yellow card π¨.
The tournament crew reserves the right to make live adjustments to specific tournament rules and formats, if game-breaking issues are discovered during the tournament. This should be seen as an extraordinary measure, and any such changes must be openly discussed with the tournament players before implementation.
FFA rules
π¨π₯ Teaming with opponents, targeting, feeding, and other such abuses of game mechanisms are by default forbidden.
These behaviours CAN be tolerated if they clearly serve strategic purposes in that specific situation, AND if they are clearly more favourable than other choices that don't imply these abuses.
π¨π₯ Adjusting your gameplay in any way to either hurt or benefit one or several specific players is always forbidden. This includes, but is not limited, to:Β
Repeatedly following a specific player
Intentionally cutting off a specific player
Repeatedly attacking a specific player (e.g., with shots, lasers, mines, or fevers)
TEAMS rules
(FFA) Feeding your own teammates is allowed.
π₯ Teaming up with players from opposing teams is not allowed.
The team who lost a teammate during the tournament has the possibility to replace their lost teammate by a new player, as long as the replacement is of the same level or worse than the original player. If the replacement can be credibly argued to be better, the team will be asked to pick another replacement. A replacement player needs to play all matches from at least the semi-finals (or equivalent) to be eligible for a crown.
Punishments & Penalties
Offenses are judged based on a system of Yellow and Red cards. π¨π₯
For now, we consider that only regular monthly tournaments are included in tournament bans, but this will be evaluated and subjected to change if needed.
An offense to the rules can lead to either a Yellow or Red card, based on the severity of the offense. Possible cards for each offense are listed in these rules.
Two yellow cards received within a 6 months interval become a red card (π¨+π¨=π₯).
Punishments for receiving a red cardπ₯-> Forfeiture of prizes + Disqualification + Tournament ban for 3 months.
In situations where a game-breaking offense took place (e.g.: breaking tournament format; teaming; targeting; feeding; etc.), additional measures may be taken to ensure fairness for other players involved, such as: replaying the match, lowering points for the offending player, etc.
